Looking Glass Studios
Meet SHODAN. The psychotic AI has taken control of Citadel Station and turned the crew into an army of cyborgs and mutants; She now plans to do the same to Earth. You must explore and battle your way through the depths of a space station gone to hell. Stop SHODAN and avert humanity’s destruction. HER TERMINATION IS OUR SALVATION
mining and research, the latter often drifting into less than legal territory on more than one occasion. Christened "The Citadel" and one of the largest stations ever built, the site was fitted with an artificial intelligence known as S.H.O.D.A.N (Shodan). A hyper-advanced machine intellect that would handle day-to-day tasks on the station that didn't require human supervision. All was well on the station and it operated optimally for many years until it was eventually destroyed in 2072.
From there Shodan began to
block off sections of the station from staff members. Remodeling areas and filling them with redesigned robots and cyborgs for reasons unknown. Power outages and radiation leaks were common as she redirected more power and processing systems for her own needs. Security bots on other levels would randomly begin firing their canons at staff and it only escalated further when Shodan changed the access codes to secure areas and manned them with droids that would bar entry to anyone.
One particular example of an escape attempt would involve
several Citadel executives onboard a Grove pod. But unfortunately, Shodan would shut off its life support remotely, killing them all.
Cyborg patrols would increase to
catch those still trying to leave, and as a last measure to ensure that she didn't miss anyone, Shodan reprogrammed the Revival Pods. Anyone seeking medical aid from these devices would instead be surgically transformed into a cyborg slave, and unfortunately, this little trick claimed a number of victims.
Complete Saturation Of The StaffAny ships sent to rescue those locked onboard the station
would be destroyed as Shodan had taken control of Citadel's defense systems. Anyone that tried to disconnect Shodan from the system would meet a gruesome end at the hands of her security droids, mutants, cyborg slaves, or by Shodan herself in creative and brutally efficient ways.
